Seminar Description

Hosted by ALS and presented by Jason Waggoner from d&b audiotechnik. Basic Electro Acoustics is suitable for all levels of experience. What is sound? Why should I care about damping, reflection, diffraction or directivity?

The goal
To gain a little more insight into the principles of basic acoustic techniques as applicable to sound system design and engineering. Novices and students will gain new skills and principles whilst older hands will find new light shed on some situations they have found hard to translate in the past.

Content
The focus of the seminar is on achieving intelligibility - if you're passionate about sound, then you want to get good quality, intelligible sound to every seat in the house. Most sound engineers have a good knowledge of the electronic signal path, but are less sure of the acoustic signal path between the loudspeaker and the listener's ears. It is this part of the signal chain that we'll be primarily looking at.
